National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national-level scholarship program in the Indian Union to identify and recognize students with high intellect and academic talent. It is one of the most prestigious exams in India. Close to 300,000 students (a largely self selective group of students) appear in this scholarship exam every year, and 1,000 scholarships are awarded, out of which 775 are not reserved. The scheme is open to students of Indian nationality. Students studying in Class X are eligible to appear for the selection process. As it is organized by an official body (NCERT), it is widely regarded by the Government of India as the most prestigious and the most difficult examination at high level in the country.
STRATEGY FOR LEARNING # 1
While attempting questions, if you are stuck into a question and not able to think how to solve the problem, don't jump to the solution immediately. Try to solve question after an hour or two. If even after two to three attempts, you are not able to solve it, ask your teacher how you can make a proper approach to the question.
Don't attempt questions till you have completed your chapter. Solving Physics problems are like playing games, but to win a game, the most important prerequisite is to know the rules of the game.
Do not jump to harder problems. In the very beginning, solve basic problems which will enhance your ability to apply questions.
STRATEGY FOR LEARNING # 2
The best way of motivation is self motivation. All of motivation lecture is a waste if you fail to motivate yourself. So, you can challenge your friends at your level for scoring high in a test or in a Quiz. After the results are out, compare which questions you failed to solve which your friend did correctly.
If you score higher in a test, don't be overconfident. Remember the most difficult task is to be at the peak.
STRATEGY FOR LEARNING # 3
Try to attempt variety of questions in your daily routine irrespective of seeing whether the questions are easy or tough. Try to practice questions of a single chapter in five to six sittings rather than a single sitting.
Most students which might include you skip easy questions and jump to higher order questions. This act disturbs your mental balance over questions. Eventually, you will find all those questions which you are not able to solve as good questions and all those questions which you are able to solve as lame. You need to race against time. Do not differentiate among questions.
STRATEGY FOR LEARNING # 4
Try to solve chapter wise tests, mix chapter tests and mix subject tests in your daily routine. Many of you may feel that when you are studying at home, you are able to solve them but you don't get the click in exam time.
So, here is actual problem you face...! Apart from having knowledge, it is most necessary to take out the right one at just the right time. Consider your brain as Hard disk of infinite capacity. The main problem because of which you might be unable to solve problems in exam efficiently is that you will be unable to switch your mind over six subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, MAT, SST). To rectify this as this is the most important of all, you should give each subject same time and practice them consecutively.
Dont Just stick to one subject. Every subject has equal weightage considering number of chapters and number of questions asked in exam. So, do not just lure yourself over a single subject more than the others. Every subject is equal and important. If you are leaving a subject just by thinking that this subject will carry only 12-13 Questions and if you are studying only the subject that carries 40 Questions in NTSE, Definitely your chances of NOT getting success in exam are quite HIGH.
So, this is my FOUR POINT Strategy for getting success in any competitive exam. Your comments are highly welcome. You can submit them from Comments Section on Home page or simply mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org

Know your strengths and Weaknesses
You can plan the journey to the destination well if you know the start point. You need to understand your strengths and weaknesses for any test preparation, like you can be strong in Mathematics, average in Physics and totally clueless in Chemistry. This is important because then you will create your plan to turn your weaknesses into strengths and ignore certain weaknesses if they are not important from exam point of you and improve your strengths.
It is rightly said, " He who fails to plan, plans to fail ". Nobody can undermine the importance of planning when doing any important task, and if it means preparing for the NTSE exam, you should be even more careful. The Study Plan that will be created for you will be weekly, you will be assigned some chapters to study every week so that you are able to complete your syllabus in time
Don't forget that only learning chapters will not take you anywhere, it is questions that you need to answer in the final exam. So practice, practice and practice till you are perfect at the chapter and then move ahead
It is important study hard and spend few hours daily on preparation but an hour or a half in your daily time-table demands to be just for yourself. Exercise in this time to keep your mind, body and soul fit. Breathing exercises should be included in this regime in order to relieve the stress and be ready for intellectual challenges. Food is also a very important aspect that needs to be taken care of when preparing for entrance examinations. Stay away from fried, fatty and high sugar foods and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
